The IGG Herpes test is an advanced herpes screening that will not only detect the presence of the virus, but also determine which type of infection is present. This test is used if the window period from sexual contact has been approximately 4 to 6 weeks. The test includes a Herpes Type II specific screen that can distinguish HSV-2 (genital herpes), and it also includes a Herpes Type I specific screen that can distinguish HSV-1 (oral herpes).
